There are numerous newsgroups (e.g. rec.boats, rec.boats.building, rec.boats.cruising, rec.boats.racing, rec.boats.marketplace) that you can participate in depending on your area of interest. Do you have a question about the best anchorages in a particular area like Kingston? Post your question on the appropriate newsgroup and you should have an answer within hours. Check to see if there is a newsgroup in your local area similar to the one in Ottawa called ott.rec.sailing. Regional newsgroups tend to be more focused on the interests of local boaters, providing them with interesting and valuable information. You may even be able to help your fellow boater by posting a reply to their question.
